Clean Off Your Desk Day/Dance Day/Coming-Of-Age Day/Stepfather's Day/Apricot Day
2006-01-09 @ 11:56 p.m.

Happy birthday to my mum! I'm about to watch a film adaptation of Dangerous Liaisons. Not the 1988 version starring Glenn Close and John Malkovich. This 2003 production stars Catherine Deneuve and a very ironically cast Rupert Everett. (Edit: The movie was tiresome, and I feel asleep after the first two hours. The play I saw last year was way better. Still haven't read the novel that started it all.) Reached the mainland sometime close to 9 pm, which gives me less than a day before I have to be back on a ferry chugging off to Tekong. Don't mind very much, just bothered by the hassle of booking in and out in such a short span of time. Suppose I shouldn't complain so much, seeing as how I'm essentially going to be confined after this coming weekend, on account of my field camp. Some of my sectionmates always seem to have something planned for the duration of their liberty. By contrast, I usually don't. The only time I actually did anything was when I had dinner on Christmas Eve with a couple of RJC friends. As time wears on, I start to find that NS is like going to school or to work. Look at it this way. You have to adhere to a timetable and a good chunk of your time is basically not your own to dispose of as you please. If anything, NS provides a much more predictable environment. (I already know what my training schedule's like until the day I pass out.)
