Got sent home by the MO because of a high fever and throat infection. Now I need to convince the doctor at the polyclinic to extend my MC by one day, in order to avoid the stupidity of booking in and out within 24 hours. (By the way, that was the advice of the COS. I'm much too straitlaced to have thought of it myself.) Will probably have to stay back over one of the weekends for remedial training, but at least it's mostly stuff to do with my rifle and shooting so it should be fun. Hadn't planned on coming home. In fact, I wasn't even going to report sick, until my temperature hit 38.4°C. Considering that my normal body temperature is actually below 37°C, 38.4°C seemed as good a temperature as any to report sick immediately. (It reached 38.6°C by the time I was at the medical centre, but I was still reasonably lucid!) MO was clinically efficient, although there was this other bloody annoying MO who reprimanded me for not reporting sick in the afternoon when my fever first started. Hello? It's not like I'd planned on getting any sicker. I figured a couple of Panadol tablets would take care of the fever, but obviously I was wrong. Diagnosis: viral infection of the throat. Wish me luck on getting that extended MC! Haha... |
