Have started reading G.P. Taylor's Shadowmancer, which isn't very strong writing in my personal opinion. The events of the book all feel too convenient to be plausible, even with the willing suspension of disbelief. Then again, who am I to comment? His novels are apparently the Christian answer to the Harry Potter series. (They're not, or at best, a lukewarm response.) Still, he's being published by Faber & Faber, and I've enormous respect for that company, so I'll keep an open mind until I finish Shadowmancer. Taylor's already finished another two books, Wormwood and Tersias. It feels weird booking in today, knowing that I'll be coming out again in less than a week for the New Year holiday. Please pray that I don't get guard duty, regimental or otherwise! Have realised that there are actually a lot of scholarships out there, just that none of them leads to a future that shines as brightly as the PSC road. My aunt, who works for the PSC, has confirmed that the barest minimum requirement is AAA, if you want to even have a shot at getting a PSC scholarship. She's also told me that our 'A' Level results are coming out in early March, which means I'll either collect my results just before or just after passing out. Haven't written my PSC essay, although I still intend to submit it by the end of the year. In any case, my account got deactivated because the number of login attempts was exceeded. (I gave Shu En the wrong password to access it to get my parents' NRIC numbers! Now that was dumb of me.) Sent e-mail to PSC to get it reactivated, but it's the Christmas holiday period, so I'll probably only get a reply by the next time I book out. Will see you all again in less than a week's time, if all goes well... |
