Ended up doing my Christmas shopping at Causewaypoint with my parents, because there wasn't time to go to Orchard and then to Holland Village for dinner with my friends. Had to stop by Khatib MRT at 12.30 pm to collect my radio, a free gift for subscribing to Time, which was supposed to have been passed to me yesterday but wasn't because of schedule conflicts. Saw Chris and Sing Kiat at the station. Bought what I could and delegated the rest of the buying to Audrey, since I'm sharing with her for most of the presents anyway. Dinner at NYDC was sweet, especially since I didn't have to fork out a single cent, courtesy of Eugene, although he made Vaish pay because she owed him money. (Well, she was disgustingly late anyway, so she ought to have made amends. Haha!) The staff at Eskibar were really frigid today, so we moved to Harry's after one round of drinks. Plus there's no happy hour at Eskibar today and tomorrow, so the stuff there's more expensive than at Harry's. The staff at the latter know their drinks better anyway! The lady we quizzed at Eskibar hadn't a clue what was in any of the drinks, and she didn't even speak good English, which is a definite no-no in Holland Village where all the expatriates show their faces. Had a Singapore Sling at Eskibar, which set me back by $15. The same drink costs $8 during happy hour at Harry's, $13 otherwise. Bought a butterscotch schnapps at Harry's, which was really yummy. Conversation was entertaining, all the suppressed grouses being expressed about the most unexpected people! Saw Lynette from our senior class as we were walking out to the main road on our way home, but Thong and I didn't say hi because she was cuddling with some guy and it'd have been not a little awkward, especially if she didn't recognise us. Looking forward to Christmas service tomorrow! |
