Can't believe I wasted just over an hour on Infested, some lousy horror movie that AXN has been hyping. The plot barely hangs together. A bunch of yuppies in their thirties reunites at the funeral of one of their own. Unfortunately for them, the house they gather in is infested with flies that inexplicably eat their victims from the inside. Not only that, the flies are seemingly able to reanimate their deceased hosts, absorbing their intelligence while granting them phenomenal strength and a very high threshold for pain. The really unbelievable thing is that within 30 minutes, all but two members of the cast have been infested. This is after a very brief period of inanity, where we are treated to an awful dance performed to really old music, as well as the indecision of this guy, who married one of his fellow yuppies, over whether to have a fling with another yuppie friend. He's egged on by the rest of the guys, but as luck would have it, said target was the third person to be infested. The first victim was the guy who supposedly died, but he was just really pissed off at his shallow yuppie friends, so he decided to kill all of them. (We're never told how exactly the flies from the Twilight Zone came to be.) The second victim was the husband of someone within the group, but who drove off early because he was annoyed with the yuppie crowd. Can't say I blame him. Ultimately, everyone gets infested. Yeah, even the two survivors. The first victim's girlfriend is the last to go, and she puts up a helluva fight. She even makes it to the nearby church, but the flies got the priest too, so I guess you can figure out the closing shot for yourselves. All in all, a really bad movie. It just goes to show that even AXN, home of 24, Alias, CSI, House, Las Vegas and Numbers, can make a programming mistake. I'm sorry if this seems like a really pointless entry. Okay, so I ate at Seoul Garden for the first time today. That's about all there is to say! Two more days to go... |
