Boxer Shorts Day/Independence Day (Saint Vincent And The Grenadines)
2005-10-27 @ 11:27 p.m.

Have happily chucked away half of my History readings, which makes the workload more bearable. At this rate, I might actually finish studying History before the 'A' Levels! Lots of lightning outside at the moment, but the thunderclaps that follow are most unsatisfying. Wimpy and non-committal, kind of like the rainfall. I like my thunder booming and ear-splitting, the kind that makes you jump and your heart skip a beat. One of my happiest memories from my lower secondary years was sitting on the beach at East Coast Park, watching the wind churn the waves before a storm. (If you believe in quantum universes, that moment probably constituted a major diverging point for my life, for reasons best left undetailed. After all, time and space have moved on from that moment, so there's no point dwelling on it unnecessarily.) This was during the first reunion for the 1999 batch of NYPS GEP. This was also the one and only time I tried hair mascara, because someone had brought a few tubes and we were going nuts applying it to our hair. There were four colours, and my hair ended up streaked with all of them, which later resulted in a bemused MacDonald's employee inquiring into the veracity of my hair colour. (The rain had caused the colours to run, so my hair must have looked really peculiar then.) Ah, the strange things we do when we are young...
