It is the day before the last day of school, and I don't feel sentimental. Ask me again in a month's time, when we'll really be going our separate ways. (Unless you're a guy, in which case NS is supposed to be really bonding and all, so you don't go your separate ways, you merge into this bigger conglomeration of other 18-year-old males.) Bought a $10 voucher from Sophia, which was effectively a license to buy one more book. I bought three of Coelho's novels, three books from the Faber & Faber series, and two more of Hoban's novels. Very happy with my purchases, although I'd have liked to have bought that anthology of James Joyce's poetry, which sounded interesting but was a bit too tattered to pay $37 for, and possibly a few more books from the Faber & Faber series. I really love Faber & Faber's recent set of covers! It's very simple, just the name of the writer and the book and a dichromatic colour scheme. Very striking on a shelf. Yi-Xun thinks the new cover for Larkin's Collected Poems is nice, which happens to be the one I own, the green one. It's most amusing to find that we concur on such a mundane matter. It would appear that I have drifted towards Chernise's school of thought, which is that the covers of books do matter. I suppose they matter in so far as I want my books to look like collections, neatly arranged for maximum visual impact on my bookshelves. Saw another cover for Kundera's The Book Of Laughter And Forgetting that blends in better with my other Kundera novels, so I was mildly annoyed for a while. Bumped into Eugene at Kinokuniya, and then once more at Subway in Cineleisure where I was having Bible study. That Subway outlet serves awful food, not like the one in Holland Village! It's a pity that school tomorrow is going to be such a freaking waste of time, and on our last day too. Would bring a camera, but my dad's taken the digicam to New Zealand. Can someone collate the photographs our class took that day? |
