Today's papers went okay, I guess. Kind of dissatisfied with the endings to all my essays, but I always feel that way about everything I write, so I doubt the feeling's worth anything much. Wrote an essay for GP about the appeal and value of poetry in modern society, that grew increasingly anaemic as it went along. I quoted my own poem, succumbing to an ego trip, but obviously I didn't leave the poet's name behind. I just obscured that matter behind "recently published international anthology". Don't you get a kick out of seeing your name in print? Haha. Reading Hardy now, and it's a very different experience because you know what's going to happen already, and you pick out all the foreshadowing and significance of phrases like "black fraternisation". I do like Hardy a lot compared to our other texts, depressing as he is. Except Albee, really like that too, and it's just too different from Hardy in my mental categorisation to be compared anyway. I'm rambling, so I will go off now, and ponder the impossibility of scoring three As for my upcoming papers. Oh well, at least the poem on Paper 8 was fun! Colin Thiele's Up-Country Pubs. Quite liked the D.H. Lawrence excerpt from The Rainbow, but I hated writing the essay for that question. |
