#2 Pencil Day
2005-08-17 @ 9:11 p.m.

Got third place in the competition, so many thanks to everyone who voted! Need to prepare a CV for next week's workshop by the GIC, but I only have the vaguest of ideas about what to include. Was sitting in LT3 beside Chernise, listening to Mr Purvis repeat himself about Oxbridge applications. It's scary to know that so many people out there are as good as, if not better than, yourself. Have decided that it's too troublesome to get Thom Gunn's Collected Poems, and I've discovered a lot of stuff by Larkin that I like anyway. I don't think much of his later work though. At the risk of being crucified by all the rabid Larkin fans out there, I personally think the quality of Larkin's poetic output lacks the consistency of Hardy's. Oh yeah, after having been told by several people that my hair looks odd, I have had a haircut. I will go and read Antony & Cleopatra now, because I lent my copy of Who's Afraid Of Virginia Woolf? to Li Jun to photocopy, so I'm reading my texts in reverse alphabetical order according to author surname. Think I won't study Don Giovanna for 'S' Paper, even if it is the perfect bridge between The Hours and Love, Etc. Have barely enough time to finish the 'A' Level syllabus at the moment. I need a visitation from my former disciplined self!
