Lazy Day/Grab Some Nuts Day
2005-08-10 @ 10:05 p.m.

I'm sitting in front of the computer, upset at being told off for not doing my work earlier. Just an hour ago, I had very good intentions of being brilliant and producing two stunning essays on my Albee and Shakespeare texts. The reality? I don't know how to start on the Albee essay, and the Shakespeare one isn't compulsory. I want to write an 'S' Paper essay sometime this month, because my Common Test essays were crap and I need to stop being mediocre when I write. These days, I alternate between thinking I don't try nearly half as hard as I should, and feeling that there are other things I would rather be doing with my life than getting As in subjects that I have barely more than a superficial interest in, English aside. Got the Warwick prospectus today, and I'm quite taken with the joint English and American Literature degree. Just took a look at the online Nottingham prospectus, and English Studies with Latin looks tempting, especially since the entry requirements stipulate only an A for English. Cambridge's undergraduate English course is starting to look boring in comparison to the options available at Nottingham, Warwick and York. Anyway, I've just tentatively put down my six choices on the UCAS form.

Cambridge: English
Nottingham: English Studies and Latin
St Andrews: English-Latin
Warwick: English and American Literature or English and Creative Writing
York: English
