I miss Holland Village. Hanging out there is a very different experience from bumming in Orchard, or even worse, skulking about Junction 8. Had dinner with Tim, Huimin, Shirley and Sarah at 211 Rooftop Terrace Cafe. We are all in agreement now that Sarah is more amusing to make fun of than Hui Juan! Haha, so Hui Juan, you can relax now. Sarah is priceless humour in human(-bird) form. Then we went to Häagen-Dazs, where the scoops of ice-cream they served us were so tiny! I'm not going to that outlet again. The one at the Esplanade is nicer, less cramped and serves bigger scoops. I'm halfway through Talking It Over, and it really does cast Love, Etc. in a different light. Now I hate all three of the main characters, because how can anyone be so unbelievable stupid? I am baffled. I think it's less convincing than the sequel, which only fell apart at the end as I wrote in my essay two days ago. The only saving grace of the book is that Julian Barnes is clever with words in an acerbically witty way. This month: Christmas In July Flowers Of The Month |
