Ploughing through macroeconomics, because I'm studiously avoiding Sloman for now. I've realised that I like webcomics a lot more than the ones we get in the newspapers. Even Garfield doesn't make me laugh that often. Speaking of which, is that fat cat ever going to kick the bucket? I mean, obviously it ends when Jim Davis dies, but Garfield's actually pretty old for a cat. Anyway, I don't know a lot about webcomics. I've only just starte checking out Sinfest and Questionable Content. Any suggestions? I know what I'm going to do with my LJ. It's going to be something along the lines of Projet Utopia, except it won't be bilingual, unless someone volunteers to do translation for me. Would you rather read a first-person or third-person narrative? Which do you find more engaging? Is it necessarily true that first-person narration draws the reader into the story? Might third-person narration lend itself better to a larger plot architecture? I'm soliciting opinions here, so tag or use the poor neglected guestbook. Have been thinking about what Kar Foon said yesterday about money, which was basically if you can live with what you have, then money won't matter much to you. Trouble is, if I had to pick one description of any literary character I've ever come across to identify with, it's when Clym describes Eustacia as "luxurious". Intellectually speaking, I can accept the notion that money can't buy happiness. Spiritually speaking, I do believe that having God is good enough. In every other aspect though, I want money. Lots of it. I don't want money so much for the sake of being rich, but rather for the comforts that money does buy. Big houses, fancy cars, latest computers, expensive holidays, loads of books and CDs, etc. If I ever have a burning ambition in life, it'll probably to live even better than I already do. My desired lifestyle is singularly incompatible with my desire to read English at Cambridge and become a teacher, hence I regularly entertain thoughts of pursuing Psychology instead. Okay, candid confession time is up. Oh yeah, I've decided on the names of my unwritten story. There'll be a pair of twins, Aurelia and Aurora, two cousins, David and Jacob, and possibly two minor characters, Alethea and Julian. If I have a daughter I'd name her Aurelia or Aurora. The names do matter obviously, or at least I'm going to make them matter... |
