Cuddle Up Day/Profess Your Love Day
2005-06-09 @ 8:54 p.m.

Forgive me if I'm being boring, but I'm just thinking aloud here at the moment. Picked up a few books from Borders, because I decided Kinokuniya was too far and too tempting. Definitely doing Love, Etc. and The Hours for Common Test, and I might study A Home At The End Of The World, or An Artist Of The Floating World, or Far From The Madding Crowd. The second novel actually goes well with The Hours, so I was thinking of studying three novels, pairing Cunningham with Ishiguro for their themes, and Barnes with Cunningham for their structuring of their novels. Not sure if it'll work out, but at last, I have definite idea of what books I'm doing. Looking for a poet contemporaraneous with Hardy, and A.E. Housman suggests himself. Opinions, anyone? Not very familiar with his work, just happen to notice he was a contemporary of Hardy's. I don't mind looking at a plethora of individual poems to compare with Hardy's, but I find it less taxing if I can draw comparisons between two bodies of work. Time to psych up! Just over two weeks to go...

The guy guarding the CMPB entrance was very amusing. He told me to empty my bag for the security check, but the only thing he examined was my CD pouch. After flipping through every CD inside, he arrived at the astute conclusion that I like New Age music. (Cue applause.) I think the people who work at the CMPB are quite bored, and I don't blame them really. It's got to be one of the most dreary routines, the endless parade of enlistees, always waiting for the next batch to come along. The vocational assessment was about as bad as the psychometric assessment last week. I realise that I can't remember most of the physics I learnt under Mr Lim. (Hardly surprising then that it was the only science subject for which I got an A2.) I need someone to tell me an answer for the Poisson distribution tutorial. What are the odds that Mr Tay will understand me if I SMS him for the answer? Where are all the Mathematics 'S' people when I need them?
