Pondering what to do for English 'S' Common Test. Think I will check out Julian Barnes's Love, Etc. Varying again between the two Cunningham novels, so I'm quite likely going to do the novel that finds a comparative partner first. Poetry is definitely Hardy, the question is picking other poems for comparison. I might get to explore Gunn or Thomas after all. Eliot's The Wasteland is tempting, but for the fact that I do not want to risk having to discuss Eliot with Yi-Xun. (Then again, Yi-Xun'll probably be preoccupied elsewhere!) Kelly and Eugene have been most helpful in suggesting books, but nothing's quite caught my eye. If I do Hardy for poetry, should I do one of his novels too? Probably Far From The Madding Crowd, because of its length. Need to decide real soon, because for once, I actually feel the need to study, especially after enjoying one whole day of being a couch potato yesterday. I never knew that So Close had such a sad plot. Watching Shu Qi's character die while trying to save her sister was awful, especially when Vicki Zhao comes back to find her sister dead. Nasty stuff. Pentium III computer is up and running, with thrice the amount of disk space! Not there's anything I can use it for right now anyway. The NS checkup is a brilliant waste of time, and I think today was one of their more efficient days. Looks like a fun place to work though, because half the time they look like they're not doing anything really. Do you believe that I'm classified as PES A? Still have to go back tomorrow morning to do the damn vocational assessment, but I shall console myself with the thought that I'm dyeing my hair tomorrow. Dark brown this time, because I doubt that can go seriously wrong. In any case, there's still leftover black dye from last year! Am annoyed that tickets for Lovepuke at 8 pm on Saturday are practically sold out. I should have known better and bought them yesterday! Thank goodness almost everyone can make it for the 3 pm show, and I'm getting them now. Now being as soon as Kay Hwee decides to return my calls... |
