POP! was awesome! I think today has undid the effects of my wonderful 12-hour slumber though, because somnolence overtook me on the MRT. Fell asleep clutching the yellow rose Amanda and Shu En gave us, which smells really nice. I'm going to dry it, which Hui Juan tells me is very easy to do. Just hang it upside down and wait. Haven't decided what I'll do with the dried flower though. Anyway, POP! was incredible. The weather was fine, the music was good, and by God's grace, we pulled off this event. Arrived in church at about 2 pm, much later than I'd intended, through circumstances beyond my control. I then baked for the rest of the afternoon, simmering in my brand new green polo tee from Giordano. Shirley says that green suits me, but sadly, that happens to be the only green article of clothing I own. Birthday present anyone? Thank goodness I had the sense to change out of my SYF attire beforehand, or I'd have been roasted and ready to be served within the first 15 minutes. Speaking of SYF, I must record this done for posterity. During practice, Shaun asked, "Are you going to spike your hand for SYF?" Genuinely puzzled, I sought an explanation. Upon learning it, my response was something to the effect of "Grow taller." The strange things that happen during pratice... The band practiced until about 6 pm, when the first Westwoodians appeared at the gates. We prayed for a while, ate dinner, and waited. Jonathan and Paul's emceeing sounded a lot better than the last time we heard them. We also discovered Joshua's hitherto hidden talent for cross-dressing! Haha, now everyone knows how hot his legs look in a skirt. At least we already saw the whole scene acted out during rehearsal, so we didn't burst out laughing onstage. A bunch of us actually dragged him into the carpark during dinner to help him appear more convincing as a girl. (I never knew that I knew so many closet bimbos. Haha!) The concert went really well, especially Mel's Hero, and it was most gratifying to see everyone on their feet at the end, singing along to Still. I nearly cried while singing Love Song, which has now become one of those songs that tap into an emotional core in the way that Through It All does. Packing up took a lot less time than I'd expected. Many hands do make like work, trite as it may sound. Then we debated over whether to have supper at Holland Village, where Ivan was waiting, or the Clementi McDonald's, which proved more popular in the end. Left early with Shirley and Yanleen, who were trying to catch the last NEL train from Outram Park. I somehow managed to wake up before the train reached Yishun, stumbled in a hazy torpor to the bus interchange, and eventually wound up here. I'm incredibly tired... |
