Pitchers Day
2005-03-29 @ 9:37 p.m.

If they ever start selling the white and red wristbands, the ones in support of abstinence, tell me because I wanted to buy those. Drew the expected flak today about being poseur when I wore the black and white wristbands to school, but I couldn't care less! Haha, at least Shawn was nice about it. Was thinking of buying a red one, then I can have have the French tricolour on my wrist for Friday, but figured it wasn't worth the trouble. Anyway, this annoying guy was trying to sell me a Time subscription in the canteen. He didn't know how to take a hint, so I tried dismissing him in the only remaining way - indicating that I have no need for Time, and my GP is perfectly fine. "I topped the level for GP" has a magical effect on people like him. The incredulity that plays across their faces at the thought that someone can do that without the help of copious amounts of reading material is truly a sight to behold. That said, I don't believe that reading magazines will help you to score for GP anyway. GP is all about constructing arguments, as Mr Purvis is fond of reminding us, and I largely agree. To cut a long story short, the guy just called me, and I finally got rid of him. Like I'd let him get his commission that easily. Borrowed some books from the school library this afternoon, including a volume of Hardy's poetry and a book about Hardy and his work, which is quite interesting. Think I might write a poem now to show Mr Purvis tomorrow or on Thursday. Most of the stuff I've written lately isn't good enough to show him, having failed the test of self-critique. All of it just falls that bit short of being presentable. Too bad...
