St. Patrick's Day/St. Patrick's Day Parade (New York)/Submarine Day
2005-03-17 @ 9:55 p.m.

Just woke up and prevented this night from being completely wasted on sleep. Robert Frost here I come! Right after I finish some stuff on integration. SIMUN actually ends at quite a decent hour, even if it does start at an ungodly one. The ECOSOC is full of nice people! The chairs called up delegations whose resolutions were recommended to be merged, and Jamaica was very open to the idea. So within 15 minutes of lobbying being declared open, I find myself co-sponsoring a resolution with Jamaica and Panama, which quickly extends to include Angola, Ireland, Saudi Arabia and the UK. Then we're told to come up with a resolution for the second issue, because they don't have enough resolutions to carry us through two days of debate. So I've put my name on a resolution that I didn't write, and I have no idea what to say about it tomorrow. The ECOSOC didn't pass any resolutions today, although I thought the UK one might have passed if we could have amended it further. The one by Cuba was too vague, I think, even for a UN resolution. Incidentally, there seem to be a lot more girls than guys in the ECOSOC. Just wondering, is there a scientific explanation for why people of mixed ethnic heritage have a tendency to look better?
