I've given up trying to cover all my research for SIMUN, so I've just skimmed through the whole lot, and hopefully I'll remember some of it. Quite perplexed as to what to do at the conference itself. I suppose I'll just have to wing it. Met the J1 debaters who are in the ECOSOC too, and we slacked for the whole duration of the meeting because we all agreed the ECOSOC issues were really uncontroversial. The most contentious point I can come up with is unique to rich countries disbursing aid to NGOs, which is basically that NGOs accepting money from governments should not backstab them or criticise their policies. Go USA! It has been suggested by the LFS people that I merge resolutions with Jamaica. The J1s have been absorbed into a potentially powerful bloc of nine countries, which is a third of the council's full strength. We shall see what happens during the lobbying segment on Thursday. Finally spent my Coffee Bean voucher today, because Chernise suddenly popped up from nowhere, so Dan and I had lunch with her, during which he expressed incredulity at my being a worship leader. Bought an ice blended and a slice of quiche, because that was the only combination that cost $10 exactly. Then instead of going straight to church, I decided to go home to unload all the stuff I didn't need, like Sloman, which I've been trying without success to study for the past week. Okay, I was nearly broke too, and needed to get more money. John's session on worship wasn't hard to follow, and I thought the worship we had after that was awesome! Now I need to think about what to do for this Sunday's worship... |
