Des personnes très bizarres existent dans ce monde, qui m'amusent bien. There's the self-absorbed RI guy who tried to walk up an escalator that was going down. Then there's Yvonne who wants me to scan the t-shirt design, when she has a scanner and I don't. (In case she's reading this, I have started writing the letter, but I want to attach a soft copy of the first magazine to the e-mail.) Then you have Mr Kwok, whom I find it impossible to respect, as I told Chun Long on our way to the library this afternoon, because he can't even remember who I am after more than a year. (Come on, even Ms Ho could remember my name after a few months! She even recognised me when I was at Shaw House doing CIP.) He still thinks I'm Allen, which is quite dumb of him really. Not only is Allen taller and broader, he does't wear his glasses most of the time, so Mr Kwok should be able to tell us apart by now. Of course, when Dan reads this he'll promptly point out that I'm not being fair to Mr Kwok, but the fact is I really don't care anymore. You can say I'm being unfair in applying the standard by which I measure the expatriate teachers to a local teacher, but the way I see it, it isn't asking a lot for a teacher to cut you some slack. (So I get annoyed with people who speak bad English when they ought to know better, but don't we all have our pet peeves? Anyway, his favourite malapropism, which he used again today, seems to be "Don't bite the finger that feeds you.") Either he really isn't human, or he had a really sad life as a student, which he intends to perpetuate in his own students. I must say though that the International History results of last year's batch are very impressive! Gives me some hope for the end of this year. Skipped PE again because I felt sick. Nothing that a tablet or two won't cure overnight though, I should think. It just occurred to me that I have a very poor grasp of the macroeconomy. I should probably start reading Sloman sometime soon, yeah? Chernise just asked me if I wanted to visit a kelong after Common Tests. Sounds like it'll be fun... |
