Chocolate Cheesecake Day/Dentist's Day
2005-03-06 @ 9:53 p.m.

Finally got my hands on Auracle, after being thwarted in my attempt to buy it on Friday because I was $2 short. Made a detour on the way to worship practice. $33.90 for one CD, but it's quite worth it in my opinion, plus I've been waiting for ages to see it imported. Now to wait for Evermind. Auracle marks a distinct shift in musical direction for Lesiëm, sounding more like a cross between Amethystium and Era than Sarah Brightman meets Enigma, which is what they've billed themselves as this time. Guess the Pink Floyd comparison didn't work so well after all. Not to say that the result isn't pleasing. The most obvious change from Mystic Spirit Voices and Illumination is the drumbeats employed, a lot more variation here. The overall sound is split quite evenly between New Age and pop for this album. I particularly like the tracks Justitia, Times and Fortitudo. Not being able to find Magna Canta's Enchanted Spirits at That CD Shop in Great World City, though I could have sworn it was there just a week ago, I bought Deepest Blue's Late September. Impulse buy, as Lesiëm had been a long time ago, and it has also turned out to be a good choice actually. Was listening to it in the car during the drive home, and it's a refreshing listen for a pop album. The duo use strings heavily in their songs, which is a nice touch.
