Had cell outing today to Hui Juan's house. You should go to people's house for Chinese New Year outings, so that you can collect red packets! Haha! Amanda, My Little Bride wasn't terrible, but it was really draggy! I think the ending came way too suddenly though, especially given the way in which the movie plodded along for the first disc. Anyway, I've planned out SV's worship for the next two weeks, which leaves me with another two weeks to sort out before the holidays. Hopefully, it'll all settle down into some sort of routine. Will consult the prospective regular worship leaders for their opinions. Excellent! Junli just messaged me to tell me that I have more J1s interested in helping out! This is great. That takes care of something that I've been meaning to get around to sorting out since last week. Anyway, I bought CDs yesterday, so I'm quite happy at the moment. One's the OST for The Phantom Of The Opera, and the other's the Soho Collection of Gregorian chants. The soundtrack's good, because it's like having an audio version of the movie, which contains minimal spoken dialogue. I like the duets, especially Christine's character's voice. Apparently, the actors and actresses were cast because they could sing, and measure up to Andrew Lloyd Webber's standards. The guy who played the Phantom sang with a rock band. Go figure. As for the Gregorian chant collection, it consists of three CDs, and I only like the second one. The first CD, featuring Orlando Consort, has a hollow sound because the balance is skewed towards the higher male voices. The third CD features Capella Nova, which has a better balance of sound, but includes female voices, which sound really weird when there's no harmony. (Gregorian chant was developed before musical theory became formalised, and hence lacks harmonisation.) The second CD is really what I've been looking for. Performed by the Lay Clerks of Canterbury Choir, which probably explains why it sounds the best. This week: Celebration Of Love Week |
