Just came back from the Night Safari, and I learnt that the Creatures Of The Night presentation has nice music. It wanders somewhere between tribal and ambient. Even so, I'm in no hurry to go back there again, for the usual reasons. Have started reading something new, Pullman's The Ruby In The Smoke. Probably inappropriate for my age, but what the heck, it's easy to read and entertaining. I got through half the book in less than half a day. Granted, the book's rather thin, but I just find Pullman's writing particularly easy to breeze through. This morning, while packing my 'O' Level stuff for my neighbour's daughter, I came across an old poem I wrote two years ago for an assignment. While not exactly cringe-worthy, it does bring home Rilke's point that one ought not to write poetry in one's youth. Lawrence says something similar in one of his introductions to his poems. Will post the poem up tomorrow when I'm free, and you can see what I mean. While we're on the subject of poems, I am tempted to give up editing On A Tuesday Morning. I feel like I'm being forced to change it into something I didn't intend for it to be, just for the sake of conforming to another person's expectations of good poetry. Come to think of it, I never meant it to be half the things the person made it out to be anyway. This is where I give a helpless shrug and turn off the computer...
