I always feel somewhat high after doing worship for main service. Plus I bought a long-sleeved t-shirt from Hang Ten earlier, and buying stuff always make me happy. Cheap, but I like it. I'm thinking of going to Kinokuniya again tomorrow, because my dad just gave me $50 again due to some miscommunication about my purchase of books for English 'S'. That's enough for two Hardy novels, the ones with the elegant black covers. Mr Purvis recommended Two On A Tower and The Well-Beloved, aside from the usual Hardy heavyweights. This has been a good weekend, if you forget about yesterday's alumni item practice. Thank God we're only meeting again on Friday and everything'll be over by Saturday, because I'd just die otherwise. Donna Tartt's The Secret History is powerfully arresting. I've plowed through almost the whole thing in less than a week, which is more than can be said about the Rilke anthology that's due in a week. The lifestlye of the characters, the more well-to-do ones at least, is immensely appealing. The reasons for that appeal are complex, but generally have to do with the fact that I'm bored with my school life, and I need excitement. So Hui Juan, how do you propose to entertain our cell group in two weeks time? Have just concluded in a conversation that I belong to a very exclusive minority of the class who is unhappy, at least in school. Imagine how that makes me feel... |
