I hope we don't need to have Guitar on Saturdays ever again, because having another day to myself is wonderful. Went to visit my aunt's new vegetarian stall at some canteen in Toa Payoh. Fake char siew looks really real. Then I had to go for alumni item practice, where I rediscovered that I like the sound of my own voice. No, I still don't regret my decision to join Guitar instead of Chorale. Like I told Sara Ho when I crashed Chorale auditions, I prefer singing in church to singing in a choir. I find it a lot more meaningful and fulfilling! Anyway, I never realised the sheer range of books in the Literature and Poetry sections of Kinokuniya. My new favourite publisher is Faber & Faber, because they publish poetry anthologies with nice covers! I found Seamus Heaney, Philip Larkin and Sylvia Plath, but they were all too expensive. Faber & Faber also publises Milan Kundera! I found the two other novels I was looking for yesterday, and because it just felt wrong to walk out of Kinokuniya without buying something unrelated to school, I bought a selection of O. Henry's short stories from Barnes & Nobles. O. Henry is the literary pseudonym of William Sydney Porter. It was an impulse buy, and only because it was the only thing I could find that cost $10, which was all I had left. Kinokuniya should hold warehouse sales! |
