Got three books from Times. In descending order of perceived literary merit: Milan Kundera's The Unbearable Lightness Of Being, William Makepeace Thackeray's Vanity Fair, Gene Brewer's K-Pax: The Trilogy. The first and the last were impulse buys, after my dad forced me to cut down from five books to three. I also bought Civilization III, some version which packages the two expansion packs together with the original game. I have a confession to make. I dislike Dan Brown's The Da Vinci Code, because I bought the mass paperback edition with the hideous cover. There are hideous covers for his other books too, so I suppose if I need entertainment I could read those. They don't sound very tempting though. I know this is in flat contradiction of what I've said about Chernise's penchant for pretty covers, but really, this is an exception. So if anyone wants to make me happy, buy my ugly copy of The Da Vinci Code, and I can go get a nice new set of books by Brown with elegant covers. Oh, and mysteriously, my Zen Touch could be reset at the Creative Customer Care Centre. Shirley, I'm waiting for your iPod to break down! This week: Education Week |
