Candy Corn Day/Bodybuilder's Day/Fall Follies (Illinois)/Pioneer And Indian Festival (Mississippi)/Pumpkinfest (Tennessee)/Halloween Festival (Indiana)/Mountain Festivals (Canada)

Had my first guitar practice today in ages. Over the holidays, I'm going to make a serious effort to learn how to play chords properly. I'm starting to think it was a big mistake to sign up for busking, mainly because I can't strum chords for nuts! Maybe I should volunteer to sing instead. It was good to be in an environment where I could just fade away and become social wallpaper. Having one good friend here is quite sufficient for me right now, while I put the rest of my social life in order. Then I blew up at my dad again, but I maintain that the whole business was really his fault. Parents are so irritating sometimes, and they can't comprehend why you get angry at them. That's why I prefer to hang out with my friends. At least I get to pick my verbal battles there...

The Visit Of The Tai Tai was interesting, but Ivan Heng's veiled Singaporean spin of the original script didn't work too well. Did anyone notice that Fridae.com was one of the organisations thanked at the start of the play? What with Heng's penchant for cross-dressing, it's enough to make one wonder. We saw the entire cast of The Physicists at the performance too. They looked decidedly normal and sane today. After the play, I headed off to library@esplanade to check out the books they had. Found four volumes of Harold Pinter's plays, a possible candidate for 'S' Paper if I find I like his writing. Simply had to get all of them to see for myself if Pinter is really what I want to do. Then nearly fought with my dad again over dinner, because all of them just couldn't make their bloody minds up where to eat! Ended up settling for some restaurant that served lousy salmon. Was quite disgusted with the salmon actually.

Mamma Mia! was fabulous! The storyline's funny, the singing's great, and the dancers all have really hot bodies. The songs are woven seamlessly into the dialogue, with the occasional clever change in lyrics to suit the situation. Enjoyed myself a lot, and my seat was quite good. Centre stall, right smack in the middle of a row. It's performances like these that make me regret (just a little) not joining the chorale again in RJC. The ending was way cool, with all the dancers just going mad on stage. They managed to get quite a lot of people on their feet. My reserved nature kicked in, and kept me seated staidly in my seat. Time for bed, I guess, if I'm going to be awake for service tomorrow...
