I just got back from the Moscow Circus! It was rather entertaining, not quite as daft as I'd expected it to be. Some of the stunts were positively crazy! You know how Russians are supposed to be really good-looking? Quite clearly, the good-lookers don't wind up with the circus! The six dancers just looked thin and somewhat peculiar, with their garishly painted faces. Then again, what's a circus without colour? Ben would have been happy though, as there was the odd eye candy for those of his persuasion. Met my favourite cousins at the circus, along with their boyfriends, their mother and her mother too. Would have gone out for supper with them if Natalie hadn't insisted on going home. Ah well. I wish I knew my cousins better, especially the one who writes songs and plays the guitar. Consider it an inspiration to play the guitar properly... The Afternoon Of Poetry & Music didn't turn out to be a disaster, despite the numerous hiccups we'd already worked so hard to avoid. Ms Ho seemed quite happy with the whole thing though. Certainly, our guests of honour, Mrs Angeline Yap and Professor Lee Tzu Pheng seemed much nicer people than their association with Ms Ho might suggest. I liked the part where Professor Lee read out those poems to do with the Merlion! Alfian Sa'at's was damn nice. Oh, that reminds me! There was this line in someone's poem that's damn funny, something along the lines of how Singapore puts guys whose sexuality is wakening, with other guys in NS. The whole LT burst out laughing. As for Ng Yi-Sheng's hilarious performance of LAN, suffice to say that was something else Ben would have enjoyed. (The fact that Ben was only interested in whether he was hot says a lot though.) The merit of some of the poetry we read out for the Retrospective segment still eludes me though. Even so, I suppose the whole thing turned out rather well. Gee, I can't wait to do this again next year... This week: The King's Week |
