I'm quite disturbed. I just realised that I added someone on my Friendster list, whom I don't know at all! How did that happen? Writing my RA article and editing some photographs of myself using Photoshop. I found this really interesting one taken during the YM Camp 2002. If I recall correctly, I was pretty sick at the moment of the picture being taken. Ironically, this is one of the best pictures I have of myself right now! I find it so nice, that I'm going to use it as my display picture for the next few days. French today saw an unusual amount of productivity on my part. Was doing both French and Mathematics! Now three songs are stuck in my head - A*Teens' A Perfect Match, Staind's So Far Away and John Rzeznik's I'm Still Here. The lyrics are floating around in my mind, and all for different reasons. What a strange night this is... We're watching Bowling For Columbine now for GP. It's interesting how the most intelligent person in the whole damn thing is shock rocker Marilyn Manson. A culture of consumption and fear indeed. It's chilling to see such a film, because it shows you just how messed up America is compared to the rest of the world. 11 000+ people are shot dead every year in America, compared with a few hundred in places like Britain. Even Japan, with all its social problems like teenage suicides, has a mere 30-odd people dying at the hands of someone wielding a gun. What is wrong with America? A thought-provoking film by Michael Moore, even though I don't think all of the things he's trying to say are really justified. Especially that bit about blaming bowling for the murderous rampage the two teenagers went on. The only link seems to be that of chronological time. They went for their bowling class, then they went to shoot some people. I liked the part where a girl being interviewed couldn't quite articulate the academic importance of gym class. Incidentally, I skipped PE today! I think electives start next week, so things'll be fine then. This week: Coffee Week |
