Bloomer Day/Egg Festival (Maine)/Summer Festival (California)
2004-07-19 @ 11:44 p.m.

Minor events of the day included going to an exhibition entitled Displaced: objects of nostalgia and other souvenirs, and realising that she doesn't matter anymore. The exhibition was interesting, though I didn't really understand what it all meant. I certainly don't see how the exhibits could command hundreds of dollars. Then again, who's to say how art should be valued? I've also got myself a new hobby! I now collect postcards. You know, those ZoCard ones that you find in the strangest places. I've got one that Ben will love. It's an advertisement for Mardi Gras! Picked it up at Alliance Française, along with a stack of other postcards. Thong argues that I should just collect the nice ones, or I'll end up with a huge collection in no time. I countered that by suggesting that I could use all the ZoCards to form a work of art, like a collage. I could call it Singapore - The Patchwork Nation. If anyone has ZoCards, I want them. Thank you!

I will now proceed to recount an interesting little vignette regarding my hair. This morning, I used up the last of my hair gel. Now imagine my displeasure at having to participate in a PE lesson, where the focus was on heading the damn ball. In the first place, I wanted to skip PE today. I could have too, if Thong had been more cooperative! After running one round around the field, there was an opening to escape. However, Thong was overly paranoid and thus the window of opportunity was slammed shut. Actually, come to think of it, my hair wasn't that bad. It was just the fringe that was messed up. (That's what I spend the most time on, in case you were wondering.) So I washed the gel out. This is the funny bit. We had English with Ms Lim today. She stepped into class and started talking about Antony & Cleopatra. At some point, she ended up standing directly in front of me. She went, "George Clooney hair!" We were all like, "Huh?" Okay, so it did look like his hairstyle. The residual gel had molded my hair flat, so that explains the unusual look I achieved. Anyway, I still haven't bought a new tube of gel, so all of you had better enjoy the natural look while it lasts...
