Cuddle Up Day/Profess Your Love Day
2004-06-09 @ 9:11 p.m.

Leaving soon for another round of cards and/or Murderer. It's damn sad! I'm one of those people who somehow look like they're perpetually the murderer, but in reality I seldom pick that card. The one time I do, I have the ill fortune of winking at a detective right at the start. I think Mafia's more fun, but harder to carry out. Anyway, back to the entry proper.

Operation Innovation and Enterprise
It was supposed to be fresh and exciting, but it left a stale taste. (Or was that the tea?) The only good bit was watching the skit before we divided up into our smaller groups. Mine had too many leaders and too few followers, so I was quite content to just sit back and contribute passively. The guy's presentation at the end was way too positivist. Didn't really identify with the core ideas of innovation and enterprise. I'm not particularly interested in bringing something new into existence, except maybe a conlang. Come on, I'm the guy who's studying Latin for fun! (Just a reminder - Latin's a dead language!)

Recreation Activities
Isn't it amazing how inane activities can be so much fun when the group spontaneously initiates them, rather than being forced to play silly games by teachers. All I can say is that just that one round of Murderer topped the whole games segment in terms of sheer fun factor. (Damn, I sound like such a cynical bastard. I hope government officials don't blog-surf...)

Performances in the Arts
My group had a date with the opera! Got to see vocal chords in real and reel action, and all sorts of disgusting pathologies. The performance by Stella from Singpore Lyric Opera has rekindled my respect for anyone who can sing, and do it damn bloody well. Breathtakingly stunning, as was the countertenor's performance in this movie clip we saw. It's times like these that make me regret (just a little) that I didn't join Chorale in RJC. You win some, you lose some...
