Best Friends Day/Ice Cream Day/Ocean's Day
2004-06-08 @ 11:52 p.m.

Celebrated Qing Zhen's birthday earlier, because the NJC teacher refused to let him leave with his folks for the evening. We were thinking of ignoring the lights out, but that'd have really put our SLO in a spot. Bought a cake, ice-cream and drinks, and celebrated during supper. I think our group's a really nice bunch of people, sort of like 1A01A, but minus the academic bit!

Panel Discussion 1
This was very entertaining, but for all the wrong reasons. The ITE Alumni Association's president was an extremely garrulous fellow, who had to be restrained by the chairperson, who himself repeatedly burst into laughter while his microphone was on. Imagine the response that elicited from his teenage audience. The Q&A session was boring, because it's always the same few people coming up to ask questions. It's like their calling in life or something. I've noticed that RJC and HCJC students shy away from asking questions, whereas the "neighbourhood" JC students tend to be very enthusiastic. Must commend this MJC girl, she's asked a question at every single Q&A session!

Panel Discussion 2
This was tiresome. I fell asleep during Assistant Professor Mansoor's portion. His voice is a lot like Mr Sowden's, which means it lulls you to sleep. I'm sleep-deprived even at this seminar away from all my readings and notes! The bed sucks, and pampered me misses my wonderful air-conditioner. As for all the buzz about sports and ruggedness, the jocks can go and stuff it. Who really gives a damn whether you were a good sportsperson when you're frigging dead? There's only two places to go after all, up or down. Pardom my crankiness. I redid all my laundry earlier, and I miss my frappucinos!

Parallel Presentations 3 (Q&A tally: PJC 6, VJC 5, MJC 13)
Lo and behold! VJC just had to upset my grand unified theory of arrowing JCs. No idea why MJC attracted so much attention. Their topic isn't particularly controversial. Perhaps the vultures are testing to see how much the new kid on the block can take? The Q&A session was extremely civil today, with the notable exception of the first question, whose answer was openly derided by a TJC student. "Thank you for your idealistic response." I thought my groupmate, Natasha, held up pretty well though.

Small Group Discussions
A big shout-out to Sonya for writing our group's report! This session only affirms my opinion that my seminar group shares remarkable similarities to the bunch back in RJC. We spent a good deal of time laughing at racist and dirty jokes, most of which were spouted by Bhushan, who's Indian! (Oh the irony!) Had a helluva time, best of all the "serious" stuff at the seminar.

Interaction Time
Not exactly the most exciting time together as a group, but I think we've bonded enough elsewhere. Was treated to a fascinating account of Theresa's social affairs, together with Casie and Francis. The rest were playing basketball with Jia Ren and Qing Zhen to cheer the latter up. Ah love, which makes fools of us mortals. Well, who am I to comment? I'm no better myself...
