Just came back from watching Shrek 2 with church friends. It's hilarious! My favourite character's the scheming bitchy fairy godmother, especially the part where she suddenly morphs into a diva, says "Put it in C minor," and ends up reclining on the piano, singing Holding It Out For A Hero. She shows too much leg for a fairy godmother. Haha, talk about undermining fairytale stereotypes. She ends up in an explosion of bubbles, which is really a decidedly fairytalesque image. Here's one for Ben - "gender-confused wolf". In any case, call me shallow, but I doubt anyone would really want to look like an ogress for the sake of their beloved. Then again, Shrek isn't about the "happily ever after" of fairytales! Okay, this entry is turning into a mindless piece of drivel. Need to do Antony & Cleopatra essay! Need to buy new CDs! Need to go out! I also need to return Middlemarch soon, but I haven't even got through 100 pages of it. Was so sleepy on the MRT that I nodded off after a paragraph. Maybe I'll buy the book instead. Have I mentioned that Ben also found Lolita in the school library for me a few days back? School today was great, mainly because there was so little of it! Do you have any idea how disturbing it is to be told that your GP script had been passed around and that it'd undergone standardised marking by the teachers? I wish Mr Purvis wouldn't spring surprises like that on me in the mornings. I can't believe I still have to endure more of Mrs Helen Tan's lectures on theory of the firm when Term 3 begins. I find her lectures a most trying experience. Incidentally, why do teachers bother sitting in during the lecture when they don't even realise that people in the rows right in front of them aren't listening? I should know, I was openly doing my PW proposal and copying yesterday's lecture notes from Jennifer. Mr Kwok, by contrast, is too sharp for his own good. I quite believe he faintly dislikes me, especially now that he's caught me not paying attention during his lecture. It was a useless revision lecture, which didn't really have much revision in it. Mr Purvis didn't want to continue with Silas Marner, because he wants all the classes to end at roughly the same point in the book. He told us again how we were a nice bunch of people, and the strangest thing is, I can actually believe him when he tells us teachers like coming in to TS1 to teach us. I'm missing the class already... I left during Ms Chen's lesson, which marked another display of genuine goodwill on our part. We bought her a cake during our break, because a little bird brought news that it was Ms Chen's birthday. Happy birthday, even though you'll never read this! We stuck candles to mark 61 years, which we all agreed on as her age. I think she was quite touched by our little gesture. It's nice to make people happy. Left for Prizegiving Day at MOELC, which started on time this year. Mme Pang still remembers Hanrong and myself, the two students "at the top" of her class back in 2000. A pity he isn't taking 'AO' French, class would definitely have been less of a drag if there was at least someone to talk to. Oh well, that's the way the cookie crumbles... |
