Waitstaff Day/Greek Philosopher's Day
2004-05-21 @ 5:32 p.m.

I finished my essay at past 1 am, so I doubt it was very lucid. That only leaves me with European History term paper, optional Silas Marner piece, and compulsory Antony & Cleopatra piece. Don't feel like doing much work today, except maybe some the assignment on transformations. Will read the rest of the night, and probably during the whole of the UN seminar tomorrow. Mr Kwok tries too hard to make his English sound polished, when it's quite plain to see how he trips over words rather often. Pretentious, petty, pugnacious. Alliteration is used to place emphasis on the meaning of words, which have hidden freight of meaning. You hear the nicest phrases during English lectures. I reached home before 5 pm today, because French was cancelled on very short notice. No matter, spent about half an hour with Thong in the library looking for nice French books to read. Currently hatching a devious scheme to borrow some books and never return them. Haha! Thong found this book on cheeses, which has really yummy pictures. There are lots of recipes at the back, maybe I'll go back early on Monday and get it for Mel to take a look. I saw something really gross on the way to school today. There was this huge rat lying beside a tree along the road! Utterly disgusted. Oh, and poor Yi-Xun is sick today. Haha, I definitely didn't miss you! On a totally irrelevant endnote, Thong pointed out to me on the MRT that I've been writing all my dates as xx-05-05, since 6 May to be exact. I think I'm sleep-deprived or something. Maybe it's a subconscious expression of a desire to be 18, not just 17, since 6 May is one day before my birthday. Who knows? It might actually be the answer...
