Astronomy Day/Ambivalence Day/Spring Festival (California)/Balloon Race (Florida)
2004-04-24 @ 11:48 p.m.

Did the stars/planets align without me knowing? Cosmic intervention might explain why three out of my four CCAs had something going on today. There was camp for Guitar, Artist's Jam for CWC, and a meeting for RA. After that, I went down for Liling's surprise birthday party, which was really nice, but more on that later. The only thing I didn't turn up for was the RA meeting, which was basically post-mortem for Issue 1, discussion for Issue 2, and nomination for the new committee. Didn't think I'd run for anything anyway. I'm only hoping for something in Guitar and CWC. My attendance at RECAS is so irregular, it's a miracle I haven't been kicked out yet! As for RA, I think I'll stick to writing the articles.

Guitar camp was very short! It was originally supposed to be an overnight thing, about a week before our concert. Then it was postponed to after the concert. Dance Night sadly turned it into a day camp. I was around for the scavenger hunt and lunch, then I had to leave for Artist's Jam. Camp was quite fun, though it'd have been better if it'd been longer! Still, it can't be helped. I wonder who'll be the next chairman. I hope it's Shaun, but that's just me being biased in favour of a friend and ex-classmate. Oh well. Artist's Jam was interesting, saw a lot of interesting poems there, not to mention prose. I liked Seng Teck's piece, especially the ending. It was cryptic to me, maybe I'm missing something? The alumni came back to judge, and Charles looks really weird now, as in Charles Goh from Raffles Voices. He has long hair, and he was sucking on a lollipop. I always thought he was a little strange...

Liling's surprise party was really cool. Her mother called Ben and told him to get the class down. Seems like her mother's done this before. That is like damn cool! So we were upstairs, waiting for her to come home. Then we jumped out and started singing Happy Birthday! Liling was quite inarticulate for a few minutes. You could tell she was really happy though. There are some things that we do, that are born out of a genuine desire to make people happy, and those are the ones that usually turn out uncommonly well. I've been paying attention during Mr Purvis's lessons! The whole atmosphere was really relaxed, because there wasn't any specific programme. Just a lot of food, and a marvellous ambience. Her house is gorgeous! So we were all just sitting in the garden, eating, singing, chilling out. Went in to cut the cake, and we just sat around looking at old photographs of people like Chong Lin and other SC girls. Allen is damn funny! We really should have more gatherings of this sort, just chilling together somewhere cosy. Two words: We rock!
