I'm feeling happy today! I'm getting new New Balance shoes once I find a pair that I like. Not having to wear stupid 70% white shoes liberates my choice of footwear considerably. I've realised that New Balance shoes are rather durable. My previous pair lasted nearly five years, I think. My current pair is falling apart, and it's around four years old. I'm looking for a black or grey pair now. Then my dad brought us to eat at Pasta Cafe, which I've been dying to return to because of their chicken lasagna, which I'd eaten the one and only time we'd been there. My dad likes the music and the ice-cream, so there's hope of going back more often now, despite the prohibitive prices. Then he paid for my latest CD, Two Horizons by Moya Brennan, who incidentally is Enya's older sister. Not quite as good a singer, her music is best described as Enya-lite, but with more rhythmic beats. I should have bought this other CD by some group called Elysia, it seems like the same genre as Lesiëm. Early birthday present anyone? Currently downloading tracks by Libera, think boys' choir version of Lesiëm. Not sure if they're any good, but I suppose having put out two albums they should be fairly decent. Now I should be doing my History presentation, lest Mr Kwok begins to realise I can't stand his half of the subject... I suppose I should say something about my (supposedly) inspiring trip to the Singapore Arts Museusm. Okay, so it wasn't totally boring or anything, but I still agree with Daniel that going there to "get inspired" feels a little weird. I refused to walk around with a pen and paper to pen down my thoughts. Only had two anyway, both from some creepy paintings. What do you think of A Darker Chaos and Something Wicked That Way Goes? The latter is a nod to Ray Bradbury's book, which I read something ago but never quite forgot. I have no idea where I'm going to find the time to develop the ideas those titles suggest to me right now. I like the sound of A Darker Chaos, it sounds like something Teck Tee would have written. Dôme at the SAM wasn't really inspiring, frankly I was just there for coffee. I ended up with a blended ice, an anaemic mango-flavoured one. I feel that the coffee there does not justify its price, as opposed to Starbucks. I love Spinelli though! Went there on Friday before French with Daniel. Had some strawberry flavoured thing, it was supposedly mixed with black tea that I couldn't taste at all. Sigh, at the end of the day, Singapore lacks creativity because the opportunity cost of being creative is far too high... |
