Smile Day/Boy Scout Day/Laugh And Grow Rich Day/Kite Flying Day/Needle Mass (Ha-Ri-Ku-Yo)/Rebel Day/Sweater Day

Not only did I buy Shine, I also bought two other CDs on impulse today! They're both by Lesiëm, which brands itself as "Enigma meets Pink Floyd". Lesiëm is anything but that. It's more like Amethystium meets Delerium. If you understand what that means, I'm surprised, because nobody I know actually listens to that sort of music on a fairly regular basis, except Shen Ting I guess. Anyway, Lesiëm is wonderful! Gregorian chants over worldbeat loops. It's actually fairly formulaic, resembling Delerium's Semantic Spaces and Karma, but with somewhat more energy in the chanting. With Delerium, sometimes I feel like the chanting isn't the focus of the song, it's there for atmospheric effect. With Lesiëm, the chanting is the song! I think they've got a third album out, but it won't be reaching Singapore any time soon, that's for sure. The German version of the first album has four bonus tracks that are supposed to be really good, but I can't find them online. I suppose I'll just have to order it online someday, when I'm earning my own money of course. I'm quite happy this impulse buy has turned out so well. I was actually going to get the Masters Of Chant series, but I think I'll pass on that now! Maybe I'll pick up copies of Odonata and Aphelion? I know I've come across them somewhere before. This music is quite addictive...
