You know something? I'd totally forgot about the French 'O' Level orals, until yesterday at least. So now I'm desperately trying to revise all my vocabulary while fighting the urge to nod off at the computer. I've decided that I'll start compiling an encyclopaedia of Romance languages from www.orbilat.com, purely for my own reference purposes. I find the technicalities of grammar fascinating, especially when comparing across the range of Romance languages alone, never mind about Germanic languages like English. I'll never be able to speak all those languages, but I want to understand the structure of the language. Call it a peculiar hobby of mine. I suppose that's one of the reasons why I admire J.R.R. Tolkien so much, the fact that he created whole languages like Quenya and Sindarin from scratch, and how the languages even evolved over time. Incidentally, I must relate to you how cunning Mrs Lim was today. She was supposed to take over the Geography remedial slot, because my class doesn't take Geography. Cleverly, she gave us a full paper to do, so she took up two hours instead of the one which she was originally entitled to! It was damn funny, by the end of the lesson, we were just trading answers back and forth in the classroom. I confess that I'm guilty of copying nearly half the paper from Teck Tee! Argh, that reminds me, I still have one more practice paper to finish by Thursday. I wish I could just dig a hole somewhere and hide away forever. Give me liberty or give me death!
