Today was a wonderful day, albeit marred by the fact that I didn't eat anything between 6 am and 4 pm, simply because our teachers were telling us how much they really cared about us. Give me a break! I don't need them to tell me that, especially when it's at the expense of my lunch. I ended up speed-walking to MOELC with Jun Kai, and we arrived at 2.30 pm. We are fast, that much is evident. Mme Faussat was commenting on how Singapore is the only country where students don't have time to eat, which I think is quite a sad thing! I need to get out of this madhouse as soon as possible... School today was quite good, considering the sheer ordeal that the past few weeks has been. I think there is hope for my Higher Chinese after all. I got 52/70 for my latest essay, my best mark ever. It also happens to be the only essay where I really made an effort to be original and not copy wholesale from the handouts, but that effort sort of petered out towards the end. It was good enough to be a model essay, and I did thrash Yi-Xun and beat Teck Tee, so I'm content for now. I might just avoid the coffin I see before me, as Ms Oei puts it. English was a disaster, as was Literature, enough said. Additional Mathematics was the usual circus, a total waste of time. In fact, I think the only truly productive lesson was Biology, and only because we were going through practicals and assignments. Otherwise, it'd have been a waste of time too. I think I'll go and study Higher Chinese, I'm making fairly quick progress so far, shan't break the momentum too much... |
