So it ends this way, no tears, no farewells, no goodbyes. Today's AGM was a unemotional as it was possible to be. I expected it though, being somewhat of a cynic when it comes to choir matters. Don't think that I'd rather have it any other way. The only thing which touched me would have been the short letter that I received just before the AGM started. Otherwise, the whole thing reeked of hypocrisy. Guess what? This year's certificates are special, they're the only AGM certificates I've ever seen that are signed by the vice-chairman. Usually, it's the current holder of the post that pens this fourth signature. No prizes for guessing why Shane's signature is there instead. It shouldn't have been a surprise, I guessed as much after he asked for four spaces to be included on the JRVIC certificates. Before this entry degenerates further into a diatribe, let me just reiterate that I'm disgusted with AGM 2003. It's nothing to do with the new committee, I really couldn't care less who gets what. At the end of the day, I'm not the one who has to live with the decision, so I'd rather not waste my time griping about it. Is it possible to hate the action without hating the performer of the action? Maybe I'm just being bitter, but I think just this once, I'll let my heart rule my head... Let us move on from this circus, or this show if you will, to something lighter. I bought a new CD today! It's ancient by industry standards, White Lilies Island by Natalie Imbruglia, released in 2001. I love it! I like every single song on the album, especially Beauty On The Fire. I think the lyrics are very suggestive, "Tonight, could I be lost forever, to drown my soul in sensory pleasure?" Word has it that this video featuring Natalie, she of the amazing cheek bone structure, was a stunning one. I couldn't find her first album, so I didn't buy it today. I've got no cash anyway, need to wait until next week for more money. I've spent my time this afternoon downloading all the single and non-LP tracks, and I'm now waiting for Shikaiya (For Bill) to complete. Off to do Physics! |
