Summer Halfway Day/Try Hypnosis Day
2003-08-06 @ 9:04 p.m.

I realised something very interesting just now during lunch, while I was talking with a couple of friends. The choir's Assistant Quartermaster receives CCA points, but not any of the other assistant posts! Is that a coincidence, and guess who was last year's Assistant Quartermaster? To be fair, I have no evidence whatsoever that what I'm implying is actually true. Still, it does seem rather coincidental, doesn't it? Right now, I'm feeling very annoyed with Shane, because Shen Ting tells me he's been trying to get out of doing interviews again, which is so dishonourable. Now I have to attend the stupid rehearsal tomorrow, because interviews are after the rehearsal. I'd much rather be at French, and the scales might yet tip in favour of it.

School today was terrible! I got B3s for English, Elementary Mathematics and Biology. I think I got an F9 for Literature, because Mrs Smith was scolding me again today, about how I'll end up throwing away my A1 because of my own sloppiness. Does that imply I have or had a chance of getting an A1? Anyway, I broke another test-tube during Chemistry today. Today's practical was damn cunning, all sorts of funny reactions and observations. Biology practical was also very amusing, Ganesh was trying to set the ethanol on fire, and a flame actually did burn from the dropper! Then Chester found this cockroach, and we were thinking of flambéing it, but Jiawen couldn't get the peanut to burn so that we could set the ethanol on fire to burn the cockroach to a fiery crisp. He threw it away, the poor thing...

Meanwhile, the Episcopal Church of the United States has installed a gay bishop. I believe that this will have severe implications for the Anglican Communion as a whole. As the denomination is not governed by a power structure like that of the Catholic Church, the Archbishop of Canterbury would in reality be powerless to prevent a schism from occurring within the Anglican Communion, just as he was powerless to prevent the Episcopalians from installing the gay bishop. I am appalled the Archbishop is openly tolerant of gay clergy, because homosexuality is clearly prohibited in the Bible. There is no question of a literal or liberal interpretation of the Bible. Something has gone very wrong in the Episcopal Church, and may God have mercy on them...
