Applesauce Cake Day/Banana Split Festival (Ohio)/Juggling Festival (West Virginia)/Corn Festival (Louisiana)/SummerFest (West Virginia)/Shavuot/Donut Days
2003-06-06 @ 10:15 p.m.

After checking the poetry.com website, I found out that three of my poems are supposed to be published in the anthology due in Summer 2003, though I have no idea why those three were chosen. I've been nominated Poet of the Year 2003 by poetry.com, which isn't all that surprising. Not that it's because I'm good, as Teck Tee's been nominated twice before so I suspect that all poets entering the finals are nominated. It's funny reading the letter they sent me, because the convention sounds more like some gala event. I'd love to attend for the fun of it, but I can't because there are certain things called school and examinations. Just getting nominated gets you a Silver Award Cup for your outstanding achievement in poetry, which is actually one poem. I've also been offered a Distinguished Membership in the International Society of Poets. While I don't think it's a hoax, it still seems too commercialised to be catch-free. Of course, there's also the chance that I could win up to US$20 000, or maybe a publishing contract or scholarship. Now wouldn't that be nice? Would it be foolish of me to wish it could all be true? I don't think so...
