Today has been a very lousy day. I spent the whole day sniffling away and pretending to pay attention during lessons. Also, we got our thermometers today, and it was so stupid! The deputy headmaster went to make an announcement which lasted 20 min, basically telling us nothing we didn't already know, and which we could have deduced using our common sense anyway! I mean, he admitted himself that he was unbearable, "Please bear with me for a few more minutes." He made the Ministry of Education sound so noble, spending millions to provide thermometers to everyone. What he neglected to point out was that it's all the taxpayers' money! So why should I have to pay for a new thermometer if I lose this one? Shouldn't I just be given another for free? I'm feeling a great sense of satisfaction and achievement from having finished two of my books yesterday. I've just started on Virtual Light by William Gibson. Incidentally, I just found out it's actually part of a trilogy, the second book of which, Idoru, I read last year. It's quite hard to find anything by Gibson in the libraries here. No progress on the Latin book though, need to find a blank book to practise declensions and conjugations in. I briefly entertained thoughts of buying a book before my extra lesson, and doing it during the lesson, but gave up because the canteen was just too far away and I really couldn't be bothered at that time. I've also decided to skip PT tomorrow, for strictly health reasons. Of course, barring a loss of my voice, I'll still go for practice. Then again, the hoarse and husky quality of my voice right now isn't very suitable for choral singing, is it? |
