Cuckoo Day/Take Our Daughters To Work Day/Anzac Day Of Australia/Bird Day/Arbour Day
2003-04-25 @ 9:18 p.m.

I skimmed through some editorials today, and I think the USA is behaving in an extremely juvenile manner with regard to the French issue. Deliberately snubbing people because they won't cooperate with you is very bad diplomacy. Every nation's policies and decisions is governed primarily by its own interests. Even if the French had dealings with Iraq, what business is that of the USA? Granted, the world was wrong to criticise the USA for its unilateral action, but if you think about it, the critics have been proven right somewhat. The Americans would have you believe that the Iraqis welcomed the liberation, but this simply isn't true. Most Iraqis are probably thankful that Saddam is no longer in power, but they don't want the USA to stay in Iraq either! Ultimately, it will be very difficult for the Americans to build an Islamic democracy in Iraq without the support of the people, who happen to be leaning towards an Iranian-style Islamic state.

Today's seminar was quite boring, partly because the speaker kept repeating himself and I didn't learn anything I didn't already know about polyhedra. It was quite poorly organised in my opinion, especially the hands-on sessions. Still, it was fun to get away from work, even if it was just for a couple of hours! Now I don't feel like going for practice tomorrow. Firstly, I 'm feeling a little sick with a cough. It's not SARS so you can all relax. Secondly, I have a French lesson at 10 am. I find it pointless to drag myself to school at the ungodly hour of 7.30 am to do PT until 8.45 am, then leave at 9.45 am for my lesson, knowing that I probably won't be back in time for the rest of practice! I'm not sure what to do, so I'm waiting for some form of divine intervention. Things would be a lot easier if Zheng Yang wasn't going to practice either. I think Zheng Yang's trying too hard to please our vice-chairman. I think that's really pathetic. Personally, I don't give a damn what he would think if I didn't show up at practice tomorrow. Can't I decide for once that something else is more important than choir? It's all very well for them to put the choir first on their list of priorities, but why must I?
